1.) This might be my all time favorite shot. If anyone knows this man, I would love to shake his hand and thank him. He walked across at the perfect time to add a very much needed motion vector to this shot. It certainly added a little intensity. The lights inside Arômes also adds depth.
2.) I call this shot a total accident. Did you notice it was just a little bit slowed down? I was originally trying to get a shot of the entire restaurant. Steve was standing in the way so I tried to crop him out before asking him to move. I didn't even realize what a gorgeous silhouette shot I had until I was editing in post. Unfortunately, I was moving the camera around so much to avoid Steve that I didn't think I would be able to use the footage. I slowed it down a tad and decided it was smooth enough to include. 3.) While Steve was cooking his dish he was also talking. We didn't use that audio because there was a very loud fan running. In the original interview he was talking about how small the kitchen is. From where I was standing in the kitchen, I couldn't even get his face with my camera. Something about his hands was really interesting. It was the perfect shot to add to his sound bite about the small kitchen. 4.) Oh the buttery delicious dish. It's really easy to get a good shot of something that is already so good looking. The colors really pop against the wood table here. Thank goodness for that giant window and that sunny Monday morning. It gave us great natural lighting. 5.) I did a rack focus here. Arômes may be backwards, but it is still a stunning shot. Did anyone notice that the dumpster from shot 2 is missing? They moved it just in time! I think this highlights the beauty that is Hampden. What I am going to work on: -Stop moving the camera! Record at least 15 seconds after composing a shot. -Get more shots of the talent doing various things. -Buy a shotgun mic.
